School Campus Maintenance

Updated: Sep 27, 2022

Paradise Unified School District in California recently bought a Green Climber LV600 PLUS to help with maintenance tasks across multiple campuses.

Jacob Timm, Director of Operations and Maintenance for the Paradise Unified School District in California recently bought a Green Climber LV600 PLUS to help with maintenance tasks across many school properties.

“Prior to the Green Climber, we were using a weed eater and a push behind self-propelled masticator. We just couldn't keep up with the amount of maintenance we wanted to complete. It became a safety issue for our team that was operating that equipment.”

Paradise, California, where Paradise Unified School District resides is a beautiful mountainous region. Unfortunately for Vegetation Managers, it is also known for steep slopes, uneven terrain, and a high risk of brush fires.

“We've had extremely high temperatures in this area, and we don't want to take the risk of sparking a fire. The relative humidity is low, and I believe five fires that are currently active around our area. We don't need that in our county. The town was devastated in 2018 and almost 30,000 people were displaced.”

Now that the school district has the Green Climber LV600, they are back on track with their preventative maintenance schedule. Even with a small crew, the power of the Green Climber will help them accomplish more in less time.

“That's where the Green Climber comes in very handy. We can send somebody out with a Green Climber and somebody else out at this same spot with a water trailer. So that if something does happen, we can tackle it as soon as possible to prevent any damage.”

The machine's 500-foot remote control range is an added advantage when working in high fire risk areas. Being away from the equipment allows the operator to view the entire work zone. If the machine is confronted with an obstruction, the operator remains at a safe distance from any risk.

“We bought it because of the safety aspect of the machine. There isn’t anyone in direct contact with a piece of equipment while they're mowing. So, if the Green Climber happens to go in a hole that was unforeseen, no one will get hurt.”

Director Timm is one of the many Operations Managers choosing the Green Climbers for School District maintenance. We are thankful that Paradise Schools has a safe and effective tool for both fire mitigation and vegetation maintenance.
